The biennal session is held in Paris on even years during one day at the end of August. All registred delegates can attend and participate to the discussions on the proposed preferencial subjects by the mean of prepared or spontaneous contributions.

CIGRÉ, through its Study Committees, organizes Colloquia on odd years. The last Colloquium was held in South Africa (August 17-21, 2009) and the next Colloquium will be held in Kyoto, Japan in 2011.
CIGRÉ participates on events organized by other associations with which CIGRÉ is in relation.
